About Lexis

Metropolitan State University of Denver

My name is Lexis Nylund and I am a proud Colorado native. I currently attend Colorado Mesa University and will be transferring to Metropolitan State University of Denver starting in the fall of 2020. I am also majoring in Marketing.

Growing up in a difficult childhood, I have learned that it is so important to work hard for what you want and that only you can decide your future. When life becomes difficult, you always have a choice in the kind of direction you want to go, whether it is up or down. I chose to take the path that would change my life for the better and FBLA-PBL has been the largest role in keeping me on track. This organization truly means so much to me, in the sense that it also kept me guided and focused on what I want out of life.

I first became a member of FBLA during my sophomore year of high school and have been an active member for the past three years. I served as Chapter President, District Officer, Social Media Ambassador, State Selection Committee Officer, and a candidate for state office.

Once I graduated high school, I joined PBL and have been a member for two years so far. I have served as Chapter President, Chapter Vice President, Chapter Membership Director, and am currently the Colorado State President.

FBLA-PBL has personally changed my life for the better and has really made me passionate and dedicated about this organization. If you choose to elect me for National Executive Vice President, I will make it a priority to bridge the gap between the transition from FBLA to PBL, create new and larger emphasis on national programs, and focus on individual recognition for all members.

Achievements as 2019-2020 Colorado PBL State President

Grew Colorado PBL's Social Media Presence

@copbl began with approximately 200 followers and is now growing past 500 followers. Both FBLA and PBL members are engaged with various postings such as meeting the State Officer Team, reporting on events and conferences, and engaging interactively with polls and questionnaires.

Detailed a yearly program of work

Being the only elected officer at first, I was responsible for setting the goals and initiatives for the year. I was able to appoint new state officers to this year's team, attend CTSO Training Kickoff to learn about the other organizations and the Fall Leadership Conference, visited FBLA chapters, and set up PBL chapters with a PBL State Officer for communication purposes.

Worked with the State Officer Team to develop a Virtual State Leadership Conference

Closely collaborated with my State Adviser and the State Officer Team to write an opening and closing ceremony script, create an awards presentation, design competitive event trophies, and facilitate zoom meetings.

Connected with FBLA and PBL Members

Established social media, email, and in person conversations to receive feedback on current programs in place and what could be improved to connect both FBLA and PBL together more easily. I visited Colorado FBLA Conferences and implemented similar options at PBL Conferences to create similar experiences while still adding new opportunities.
